OOU Staff off to Ghana for International Workshop

About thirty staff drawn from the registry, bursary and technical departments of Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago-Iwoye are presently undergoing a 5-Day Trainning Workshop at the Knutsford University College, East Legon, Accra-Ghana.

According to the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ganiyu Olatunji Olatunde, the university has taken a bold step to sponsor this category of staff after the initial arrangement to secure TetFund sponsorship did not materialize. Professor Olatunde stated further that he hoped staff would appreciate the university’s efforts at ensuring that their training and development remain in the front burner of the university management’s plan.

The Vice-Chancellor informed the participants before their departure that adequate logistical provisions to ensure their comfortable stay in Ghana had been put in place. He added that he was confident that their participation at the workshop would enhance their knowledge and skills in service delivery in today’s competitive environment.

Some of the participants spoken to by the university media reporter expressed their happiness for having the opportunity to travel out of the country to attend such an important workshop. According to one of them who pleaded to remain anonymous, he profusely thanked the management for releasing fund for the trip after so many postponements due to the inability of the university to secure sponsorship from TetFund.

The theme for the workshop is “Raising the Bar for Global Excellence in Africa Tertiary Institutions: Strategic Training for Leaders”. The workshop will end on Friday, 12th May, 2018. The Registrar, Mrs Omolara Osunsanya and the Bursar, Mr Semiu Makinde were saddled with the responsibility to lead the participants to the venue.
