OOU Management Hosts Alumni Association of USA, Canada and Mexico Chapter

The Management of Olabisi Onabanjo University hosted Barrister Kayode Osoba, an  Executive member of the OOU Alumni Association, (USA, Canada and Mexico) Chapter who paid a courtesy visit to the University on Thursday, 22nd November, 2018 at the Main campus, Ago-Iwoye. He was received on behalf of the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Ganiyu Olatunji Olatunde by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration), Professor (Mrs.) Ebun Oduwole, Registrar, Mr. Femi Ogunwomoju, Bursar, Mr. Semiu Makinde, Director of Health Services, Dr. (Mrs.) Tosin Ogunbowale, Director of Works and Services, Mr. S.T William and other University functionaries.

In his goodwill message, Barrister Kayode Osoba extolled the creative ability of the Management of the University and their quest to develop the University physically and academically. He extended the warm greetings of the Alumni Association to the University community, stressing that the President, Wuraola Okenla and other members were determined about partnering with the Management of the University to implement projects that will further enhance the status of the University. He added that he had the mandate of the Alumni Association to request for the urgent needs of the University – physical and academic –  to enable the Alumni Association address the needs immediately, reiterating that the goal of the Alumni Association was to ensure that the University ranks among the best in Nigeria and indeed the world.

The Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration), Professor (Mrs.) Ebun Oduwole, on behalf of the Vice-Chancellor, appreciated the visit of Barrister Kayode Osoba and informed him of the various giant strides that the University has been able to make. She submitted that the University has grown to become one of the best Universities in Nigeria and that over 95% of the programmes of the University enjoy full accreditation status by the assessment of the National Universities Commission (NUC). She added that at the last examination of the Nigeria Law School, five graduates of the University made first class degrees, a feat that is being replicated in almost all the programmes of the University. She expressed the delight of the University about the proposal of the Alumni Association to partner with the University with a view of enhancing the status of the University, through provision of infrastructure and educational materials. She highlighted donations made by other Chapters of the Alumni Association in the Country, particularly the recent donation of educational materials worth over two million naira by the Alumni Association, OOU Chapter to the University for the use of the students.

Highlight of the occasion was the guided facility tour of the University Main campus by the visitor and other University functionaries to places such as the Health Centre, Faculty of Law Building, Central University Library, University Ventures and the FM Radio Station.
