Professor Olutola Oduyale Delivers 83rd OOU Inaugural Lecture

Olabisi Onabanjo University will on Tuesday, 19th June, 2018 hold its 83rd  Inaugural Lecture entitled “Achieving Wellness for All:  The Aerobics Culture Mandate” at the Otunba Gbenga Daniel Lecture Theatre, Main Campus, Ago-Iwoye by 2.00pm.

The Lecture will be delivered by Professor Olutola Oduyale, a Professor of Exercise Physiology from the Faculty of Education, Department of Human Kinetics and Health Education under the Chairmanship of the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Ganiyu Olatunji Olatunde.

Born in April 17, 1964 in Lagos Island, Lagos State, Professor Oduyale had his primary education at Methodist School, Yaba, Lagos in the early 70s.  He bagged his West African Secondary School Leaving Certificate at the Government College, Ikorodu, Lagos in 1980.  Professor Olutola Oduyale obtained the Bachelor of Science Education in Physical Education from the University of Lagos in 1984.  Having completed the mandatory one year National Youth Service Corps Programme from the Federal College of Education, Kotangora, Niger State in 1985,  he was admitted for his Master in Education degree course at the Postgraduate School of the University of Lagos and graduated in 1986 with Masters of Education, M.Ed Degree in Physical and Health Education specializing in Exercise Physiology.

Professor Olutola Oduyale joined the services of Ogun State University (now Olabisi Onabanjo University) on 1st February 1987 as an Assistant Lecturer in the Department of Physical and Health Education.  In 1993, he had his Doctor of Philosophy, Ph.D Degree in Exercise Physiology at the University of Ibadan.  He rose through the ranks to become a Professor of Exercise Physiology in October, 2015.

Professor Olutola is a lifetime member of some Professional Academic Societies which include:  Nigerian Association of Physical, Health Education, Recreation, Sports and Dance (NAPHER-SD}, Nigerian Association of Sports and Exercise Science (BASES)

Professor Olutola Oduyale has served the University in various capacities and the nation notably the Head of Department, Human Kinetics and Health Education of the University at several times and once the Sub-Dean of undergraduate programmes in the Faculty of Education, External Examiner to the Diploma Programme of the Department of Human Kinetics and Health Education in the University of Ibadan between 1993 and 1994 and External Assessor of Staff Publications for promotion exercise at the National Institute of Sports, Surulere, Lagos in 2015 and 2016; Member of the Board of Olabisi Onabanjo University, Sports Council for several years and as the University Honorary Athletics Coach for many years.

Professor Olutola Oduyale is an ordained Priest of the Conference of Methodist Church since 2008 to date and Presbyter of repute in the Church.  In the year 2015, he was appointed the University Chaplain of Olabisi Onabanjo University.

Professor Olutola Oduyale has contributed to knowledge in many capacities.  He has taught and researched for thirty-one years in the University, published several articles in reputable academic journals with offshore spread.  He has well over 35 publications on Sports Science related titles especially on exercises physiology.

Professor Oduyale is happily married.

The Inaugural lecture is expected to be graced by distinguished scholars, government functionaries, royal fathers, eminent personalities and well meaning Nigerians from all walks of life.
