It was a happy moment and fun galore for the pupils and teachers of the Olabisi Onabanjo University Staff School and the children at the OOU Crèche, when on Tuesday, 11h December, 2018, Christmas Carol and End of the Year Party was organized for them, by the University Management at the Main Campus, Ago-Iwoye.
The Chairman of the Management Board of the School and the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration) of the University, Professor (Mrs.) Ebun Oduwole delivered good tidings of the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Ganiyu Olatunji Olatunde to the attendees. She expressed her joy for the holding of the event, which she described as a period to show love to everyone for our society to be a better place. Sheappreciated the members of the Management Board of the School, the Head Teacher and other members of staff for taking proper care of the pupils academically and morally and enjoined the children to be obedient and always be good ambassadors of their school.
Speaking at the event, the wife of the Vice-Chancellor and President of the Olabisi Onabanjo University Women Association (OOUWA) as well as the Chief Host of the end of the Year Party, Dr. (Mrs.) Ganiyat Olayinka Olatunde, ably represented by Mrs. Oluwatoyin Oyefeso, sent her goodwill message. She gave thanks to Almighty God for His mercies and grace over the lives of the pupils and their teachers in witnessing another Christmas season. She appreciated the Management of the University for providing the resources for the programme and creating time to join the pupils to celebrate the goodness of God, praying that the efforts of the parents over the children shall bear fruits for the parents to enjoin in future. To the children, she encouraged them to always tow the line of excellence for which they were known for and that they should imbibe the spirit of thanksgiving, caring, sharing, and showing love to parents, teachers, friends, neighbours and the community at large.
While delivering his goodwill message, the Head Teacher of the School, Mr. D. O. Odewale appreciated God and thanked the Management of the University for making the joyous occasion a reality. He added that, it was a season of joy, peace and good tiding to humanity and wished that the reason for the season shall continue to glow, manifest and abide in the lives of all.
At theevent, the children sang Christmas Carols and performed Choreographic dance to the admiration of guests, parents, staff and the pupils. Presentation of drama and songs from children of King’s Gifts Nursery and Primary School, Ago-Iwoye, Local Government Primary School, Ago-Iwoye and Children Embassy Nursery and Primary School, Ago-Iwoye spiced up the colourful and exciting event.
The crescendo of the entertaining event was the arrival of Father Christmas who danced with the children and the guests and thereafter, distributed gifts to the children.
