This is to inform members of the University Community that the formal commissioning of the newly constructed Olufemi Okenla Entrepreneur Centre will hold on Wednesday, 4th June, 2025 at the Main Campus, Ago-Iwoye by 11.00am. The 150-seater Centre, generously donated by a distinguished alumnus and an accomplished legal practitioner, Otunba Olufemi Okenla, is equipped with state-of-the-art facilities that will provide students with the resources necessary to transform their ideas to successful ventures.
The Honourable Minister of Education, Dr. Morufu Olatunji Alausa, is expected to commission the landmark project which will be dedicated by the Senior Pastor, Kingsway International Christian Centre (KICC), Pastor Matthew Ashimolowo. The event will also be used to commemorate the 60th birthday celebration of the donor.
In addition, the ceremony will feature the Olufemi Okenla Foundation’s 1st Series of Colloquium tagged, “The Role of Tertiary Institutions in Promoting Entrepreneurship in Nigeria.” The Keynote Speaker is the Director-General of Onitsha Business School (OBS), Prof. Olusegun Dapo Sogbesan.
It should be noted that the groundbreaking ceremony of the Entrepreneur Centre was held at the Main Campus, Ago-Iwoye on Saturday, 6th April, 2024 to commemorate the 59th birthday of the donor who expressed delight to give back to the institution that nurtured him. At the groundbreaking event, Otunba Olufemi Okenla promised to ensure the expeditious completion of the project within one year to mark his 60th birthday.
This remarkable facility will, no doubt, serve as a hub of innovation and inspiration, further solidifying Olabisi Onabanjo University’s commitment to excellence. Apart from attesting to Otunba Olufemi Okenla’s dedication to giving back to his Alma Mater, the Entrepreneur Centre will also foster collaboration that would enhance the University’s academic and research endeavours.
The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ayodeji Agboola, has, therefore, invited members of the University Community to turn out in large numbers to welcome the Minister of Education and other guests to the commissioning of the impressive project donated by a proud alumnus of the University.
