NUC grants full accreditation to 4 OOU Undergraduate programmes

The National Universities Commission (NUC) has granted full accreditation to another four undergraduate programmes of the Olabisi Onabanjo University (OOU), Ago-Iwoye. The programmes, which included Transport Management, Fine and Applied Art, Zoology, and Physiology, receive positive evaluation results until the next five years. This achievement renews OOU’s record of having 100 % FULL ACCREDITATION status for all its eighty-two programmes.

This development was contained in a recent letter signed by the Executive Secretary of the Regulatory Body, Prof. Abdullahi Ribadu, and addressed to the Vice-Chancellor, Prof Ayodeji Agboola. According to the NUC, the accreditation process involves a rigorous evaluation of academic programmes to ensure they meet the minimum academic standards. The Commission assesses factors such as curriculum, staffing, physical facilities, laboratories, and library resources.

Reacting to the development, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Ayodeji Agboola, who had earlier expressed optimism about the University’s positive evaluations outcome said “the full accreditation status is a testament to OOU’s dedication to academic excellence and its ability to meet NUC’s stringent requirements” adding that “the achievement is expected to boost the confidence of prospective students, parents, and stakeholders in the University’s ability to provide quality education, and its commitment to quality assurance and producing high-quality graduates for national development”.

While commending the University’s CAN DO spirit, which has continually driven its efforts towards achieving academic excellence, Prof. Agboola profoundly expressed gratitude to the staff of the University, the Governing Council, and the government for their support in achieving the feat.

It would be recalled that in October last year, the NUC Accreditation Teams were in the University, at various times, to assess the academic standards of these programmes in the Faculties of Administration and Management Sciences, Environmental Studies, Science, and Basic Medical Sciences.
