Most Beautiful Campus Queen presented to Vice-Chancellor

Campus Models Worldwide, organizers of the Most Beautiful Campus Queen Beauty Pageant came calling on the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ganiyu Olatunji Olatunde in his office on Tuesday 14th May, 2019 at the Main Campus, Ago-Iwoye.

It was gathered that the main purpose of the visit was to present to the Vice-Chancellor this Year’s Winner of the Most Beautiful Campus Queen(MBCQ) in Nigeria, Miss Victoria Timilehin Akingbade, a 200 level student of History and Diplomatic Studies, Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago-Iwoye.

The Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration), Prof (Mrs) Ebun Oduwole stated that the University was very proud of Akingbade’s achievement and conduct during the beauty contest.  She also congratulated her on behalf of the Vice-Chancellor, for flying the flag of Olabisi Onabanjo University during the contest and indeed for emerging the overall best amongst the over 200 contestants at the event. According to the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration), the Beauty Queen has shown that coming to the University was not limited to academic matters alone but also includes other extra-curricular activities. “One should not just pass through the University but one should also  allow the University to pass through her”, Prof. Oduwole asserted.

She also commended the organizers for bringing the ladies together in a decent manner and putting up a remarkable beauty show devoid of scandals. She enjoined the organizers to keep working hard so that within a very short time their organization would produce the Most Beautiful Girl in the World.

Earlier on, the Head of Department, History and Diplomatic Studies, Dr. Wale Salami and the Dean, Faculty of Arts, Prof. O. Olubomehin who both accompanied the organizers and the Beauty Queen to the Vice-Chancellor’s Office revealed how good natured and brilliant, Miss Victoria Akingbade was in the class. “I was surprised that as a brilliant student with the highest  G.P.A amongst her course mates she still had time to go for beauty contest and emerged the best”, remarked Dr. Wale Salami. He stated further that her case was exceptional and she wished her good luck.

The Dean described her as “a beautiful and brilliant individual”. He said he was happy to announce that good things were happening in his Faculty and he was very sure that Miss Victoria Akingbade would continue to make the University proud wherever she goes.

On the activities lined up for the Campus Queen, the Co-ordinator of the Campus Models Worldwide, Mr. Divine Johnson disclosed that Miss Victoria Akingbade would be travelling to Kigali, Rwanda where she would meet , interact and exchange ideas with other queens from Africa who had emerged from their various Universities. He stated that the organizers watched out for a queen that would make impact on the society and that they were excited with the pet-project Miss Akingbade was working on. He stated that her project was about “Fighting against Depression”, most especially, among young adults, students and females. Mr. Johnson said that the Beauty Queen would take her campaign to various schools and campuses within Nigeria. She would also visit health professionals and psychologists for guidance and assistance on her pet-project. He, therefore, on behalf of the queen solicited for financial support from the University to enable Miss Victoria Akingbade realize her dream of assisting the depressed to have hope of living a normal life.

In her closing remarks, Prof (Mrs) Ebun Oduwole promised to deliver her message of financial assistance to the Vice-Chancellor. She said her project was apt and very appropriate at this time when cases of suicide were on the rise in the country. She and the Dean of Student’s Affairs, Dr Sefiu Oladunjoye, promised to personally assist her. The Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration), promised that the University would also assist her.
