Dr. Adebambo Adewale Oduwole Now OOU University Librarian

The Governing Council of Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago-Iwoye has approved the appointment of Dr. Adebambo Adewale Oduwole as the substantive University Librarian with effect from Wednesday, 1st August, 2018 for a period of five years.

The newly appointed Librarian was born on 26th July 1969 in Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State and becomes the first alumnus to be appointed as the University Librarian since the establishment of the University thirty-five (35) years ago.  Dr. Oduwole attended Saint Augustine Primary School, Ijebu-Ode between 1974 and 1980 and later proceeded to Adeola Odutola College for his Secondary Education.

Dr. Oduwole holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Microbiology from the Ogun State University, Ago-Iwoye in 1989 (now Olabisi Onabanjo University), a Master Degree and a Doctorate Degree in Library and Information Studies from the prestigious University of Ibadan in 1996 and 2006 respectively.

Dr. Oduwole has worked in number of educational institutions with lots of experience in similar field.
Dr. Oduwole has served in various committees of Senate and other high level organs of Lagos State University.  He was one time member, Lagos State University Management Committee; member, Lagos State University Senate; member, Lagos State University Appointment and Promotions Committee (Junior and Senior Staff); member, Lagos State University Library Committee; member, LASUCOM Management Committee; member, Academic Board, LASUCUM; member, Faculty Board of Basic Medical Sciences; member, Faculty Board of Clinical Sciences; member, LASUCOM/LASUTH Joint Committee and a host of other committees.

As a distinguished Librarian, Dr. Oduwole has attended many Professional Training Courses both within and outside the country.  He has a Diploma in Computer Studies in 1998 and worked for a brief period at Middlesex University, Hendon Campus, United Kingdom in 2005 and University of Illinois Urbana Charapaign (September – November 2006) and possesses a  Proficiency Certificate in Information and Communication Technology (ICT).
Dr. Oduwole is well published in reputable National and Offshore Journals with over forty (40) publications to his credit.  He won the Belgian Government Fellowship in 2003, Commonwealth Professional Fellowship, 2005 and Mortenson’s Fellow, USA in 2006.  A renowned Librarian, Dr. Oduwole also won the 2006 Emerald/EFMD award for outstanding Doctoral Research in the category of Library studies and was declared the Best student in Cataloguing & Classification, as well as in Scientific Sources and Information at the Masters Level.
Oduwole is a member of some professional bodies which include Nigerian Library Association (NLA);  Information and Communication Technology Section, NLA;  American Library Association, (ALA); and Associate Member, Chartered Institute of Library and Information Professionals (CILIP).

He is happily married and blessed with children.
