Alumni Association, OOU Chapter, Presents Educational Materials Worth N2.8 Million To The University

The status of educational infrastructure and teaching aids in Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago-Iwoye received a big boost on Monday, 5th November, 2018 as the Alumni Association, Olabisi Onabanjo University Chapter donated 20 Dell 3,200 Lumens Projectors and 20 APC Surge Protectors worth Two Million, Eight Hundred and Ninety Thousand naira (N2,890,000) to the University.

While receiving the Protem Executive members of the Alumni Association, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Ganiyu Olatunji Olatunde, in company of other members of the University Management expressed his appreciation to the Chapter for its passion and concern for the growth and development of the University. He informed the members of the Chapter that the University Management attached great importance to the activities of the Alumni Associations in Nigeria and in the Diaspora, and this was largely responsible for the efforts of the University Council in ensuring unity among the various Chapters and the National Body.

The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Ganiyu Olatunji Olatunde reiterated the decision of the University Management to devote a page of the OOU Bulletin to the activities of the Alumni Association to demonstrate the University’s commitment and support for the activities of the various Chapters of the Alumni Associations at home and abroad.

Responding to the address of the Vice-Chancellor, the Protem Secretary of the OOU Alumni Chapter, Mr. Oluite Adekoya, informed the gathering that the Executive members present at the ceremony had the mandate of the Protem Chairman, Professor Dele Balogun, to represent him as he could not be available because of an earlier scheduled engagement. Mr. Oluite Adekoya revealed that the Home Chapter of the Alumni Association was inaugurated to mobilize staff who graduated from the University to channel their resources-financial and material – to the development of their Alma Mata. He added that the focus of the Home Chapter of the Alumni Association was to cooperate with the Management to move the University to greater heights and pleaded with other Chapters of the Alumni Association (Home and Abroad) to join in this endeavour, with a view of transforming the University into a world-class institution of higher learning. He further intimated the University Management that the Alumni Association, OOU Chapter had concluded plans to institute an endowment, of a substantial amount in perpetuity, to promote scholarship among students of the University. He thereafter expressed the profound gratitude of the Chapter to the Governing Council, the University Management and the University community for the laudable efforts at repositioning the University for greater achievements.

In his concluding remark, the Vice-Chancellor expressed the appreciation of the University Management to all members of the OOU Chapter of the Alumni Association for their support and cooperation and urge them to continue to contribute their quota to the development of the University and in particular, participate in all activities and programmes of the National Body, especially on the efforts to choose new officers of the National Body.
